  • Move strengthens LG’s position in Japan’s competitive high-end display market

Next-Gen Displays Power Tokyo’s Latest Shopping Destination

LG Electronics has supplied its latest Transparent OLED Signage and LG MAGNIT Micro LED displays to NEWoMan TAKANAWA, a flagship commercial complex opening on September 12, 2025, near the TAKANAWA Gateway Station in Tokyo. The center, developed by LUMINE, a subsidiary of East Japan Railway Company, spans approximately 60,000 square meters and features around 180 stores, marking it as a major addition to the city’s retail landscape.

Immersive Transparent OLED Video Wall

At the heart of the installation is a 380-inch Transparent OLED display in the event hall on the third floor of the North Building. This massive video wall is constructed from sixteen 55-inch Transparent OLED panels, arranged in an eight-by-two grid. The modular, see-through design allows digital content to blend seamlessly with the physical environment, providing a unique spatial experience that merges real and virtual worlds.

LG’s Transparent OLED technology enables the creation of custom-sized video walls, offering new possibilities for digital signage in public and commercial spaces. The panels are designed to be joined on all sides, supporting flexible configurations to suit diverse architectural needs.

LG MAGNIT Micro LED: Vivid, Large-Scale Displays

Complementing the OLED installation, LG has placed its ultra-premium LG MAGNIT Micro LED displays at the main entrances of the North and South buildings. The North Building features a vertical display measuring 2.4 meters wide by 7.45 meters high, while the South Building’s screen spans 9 meters wide by 2.02 meters high. These displays utilize Micro LEDs smaller than 100 micrometers, offering high color accuracy, sharp image quality, and immersive visuals for visitors navigating the complex.

Strengthening LG’s Position in Japan

Japan is recognized as a challenging market for foreign electronics brands, but LG is making significant progress, particularly in the premium segment. The company has maintained its leading position in the ultra-large OLED TV market (70 inches and above) since 2024. The deployment of advanced signage at NEWoMan TAKANAWA signals LG’s intent to further solidify its presence among Japanese retailers and developers seeking high-value display solutions.

Proven Performance on the Global Stage

LG’s premium signage solutions are already featured in prominent venues worldwide, including Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, where Transparent OLED panels provide unobtrusive information displays. Paik Ki-mun, head of Information Display Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, stated, “We will strengthen our leadership in the global retail display market with ultra-premium solutions that deliver not only superior visual quality but also transformative customer experiences.”

With the launch of these advanced displays at NEWoMan TAKANAWA, LG aims to inspire further adoption of Transparent OLED and Micro LED technologies in retail and urban environments, offering both aesthetic and functional benefits to businesses and consumers.
