What’s New
On August 14, 2025, Google announced the stable release of Android Partner Device Labs, now integrated with Android Device Streaming in Android Studio Narwhal Feature Drop. Developers can remotely access and test their apps on a wide range of physical devices from top OEM partners, including Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo, directly from Android Studio.
Why It Matters
This expansion enables app creators to verify compatibility and performance across the most popular Android devices without purchasing hardware. It is designed to improve app quality and user experience by ensuring real-world testing conditions that reflect the diversity of Android devices in the market.
Key Changes
- Android Partner Device Labs are now stable and accessible in Android Studio Narwhal.
- Expanded device catalog includes Google Pixel 9 series, with Pixel 10 support planned.
- OEM partners’ devices, such as those from Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo, are available for streaming.
- Monthly quotas allow free device streaming minutes; additional usage may incur charges as per Firebase pricing.
Compatibility & Rollout
The feature is available in the latest stable version of Android Studio Narwhal. To enable access for team development, a Firebase project administrator must activate each OEM’s device lab in the Google Cloud project settings. Once enabled, all team members can use the devices for testing within Android Studio.
How to Update
Developers should download or update to the latest stable release of Android Studio Narwhal to access Android Device Streaming with Partner Device Labs. Administrators can enable OEM device labs through the Google Cloud project interface, following on-screen instructions. Usage is subject to the standard monthly quota and Firebase pricing beyond that limit.
What’s Next
Google plans to continue expanding the device catalog, including upcoming Pixel 10 models and additional partner devices. Developers are encouraged to check for new supported devices regularly to ensure comprehensive app testing coverage.
