Convertible Chromebook Targets Productivity and Entertainment
Acer has unveiled its latest Chromebook, the Chromebook Plus Spin 514, designed to blend productivity and entertainment with the latest ChromeOS features and on-device Google AI capabilities.

The device features a 14-inch touchscreen with up to 2.8K resolution and a 360-degree hinge, allowing users to switch between laptop, tablet, tent, or display modes. At 1.36 kg (2.99 lbs), the Chromebook Plus Spin 514 aims for portability and versatility.
AI Hardware and Enhanced Performance
Under the hood, the Chromebook is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, delivering 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI processing power.

This enables smooth graphics performance and supports advanced generative AI experiences directly on the device, including real-time automation and secure offline use. The ARM-based architecture ensures seamless compatibility with Android apps and games, further enhancing the device’s flexibility.
Connectivity, Battery, and Security Features
The Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is equipped with the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard and dual USB Type-C ports for fast connectivity.

Acer claims a battery life of up to 17 hours, based on Google’s PowerQual V2 controlled web browsing tests. A built-in privacy shutter provides added security for users concerned about webcam privacy.
AI Subscription and Workspace Integration
Buyers of the Chromebook Plus Spin 514 will receive a complimentary 12-month subscription to the Google AI Pro plan (valued at $239.88), which includes access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, 2 TB of cloud storage, and Gemini integration with Google Workspace apps such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

The offer is limited to individual consumers and excludes schools and businesses.
Chromebox Models and Enterprise Options
Acer also announced two compact Chromebox models targeting workstations, kiosks, and educational labs. Enterprise Upgrade versions of both the Chromebook Plus and Chromeboxes are available for businesses, featuring enhanced management and security capabilities via ChromeOS.
Market Implications
The new Chromebook Plus Spin 514 demonstrates Acer‘s focus on AI-powered personal computing and flexibility for a range of users, from students to professionals. With its on-device AI features, long battery life, and bundled software, the device enters a competitive segment of portable, productivity-focused laptops.
